Sturgeon Stampede Kiteboarding Classic

Spearers aren’t the only ones headed to Lake Winnebago this weekend. Members of the Winnebago Association of Kiteboarders will hold the 25th annual Sturgeon Stampede Kiteboarding Classic on February. Kiteboarders will compete in events ranging from GPS speed drags to lake crossing to catching air.

We've been watching local folks take advantage of the thick ice for ice kiting and iceboarding for weeks now.

Ice kiting 

Iceboarding is windsurfing on ice. Winter windsurfing is a rush of speed and adrenaline with speeds often far exceeding the speeds reached in the summer time in the water.
